I AM FULL

I heard some wise words this weekend and it inspired me to dig a little deeper to really examine my motivations and perspective.

The topic being discussed was temptation and how we instinctively believe that will power is the answer to overcoming that which tempts us.

In actuality, will power is limited and can be challenged and ultimately depleted. Don’t take my word for it, check out the breakthrough made in the “Chocolate & Radish Experiments”.

This was eye opening for me but it made sense as I thought about the times that temptation most easily crept in to my life. This idea of being depleted or empty makes us most succeptible to life’s temptations. When we believe that we are in need and must have something to ‘fill us up’ is when we ‘give in’ to temptation.

The way that we view ourselves, our IDENTITY, is what gives us true power. When we realize that we are not alone when confronting temptation, we are not empty. The truth is, WE ARE FULL! It is only when we question who we are at our core that the door is opened for sin.

Avoiding temptation isn’t about saying no, it is saying yes to your identity. You have the power to choose, millions of moments over a lifetime to shape your path and determine your fate.

Identity will overcome appetite. Whether you are quitting smoking, sitting face to face with a homemade key lime pie on day 2 of your 30 day challenge, or debating that trip to the gym, I hope this gives you the strength to choose wisely.
